BREAKING NEWS: McKeon likely to be fired

The Miami Herald reports and a second source confirms for Kartik's World that Marlins Manager Jack McKeon's job is in serious jeopardy. The last place Marlins, picked to be one of the best clubs in the National League as of last night have fallen below .500 for the first time this season and have struggled all year to win close games.

McKeon led the Marlins to the 2003 World Series Title and has a 214-173 record as Marlins manager. The Marlins according to the Herald may complete a deal with Baltimore to acquire Larry Bigbie, Sidney Ponson, and Jorge Julio in exchange for Coral Gables own Mike Lowell and A.J. Burnett. The Marlins acquiring the temperamental and highly over rated Ponson if it happens will likely spell the final doom for this team's 2005. Trading Burnett is an admission that this team is not capable of signing its own high priced players on an open market and the decision to take on Ponson's salary could be a total disaster. I'm surprised that Larry Beinfest who has been a magician with personel moves would concieve such a clearly one sides trade that works against the Marlins.

I agree with Joe. That trade is AWFUL!

The latest has the Marlins trying to reacquire Mark Redman, who led the World Series Champs of 2003 in wins from Pittsburgh. could A.J. be going to the Piurates- no way they cannot take on his salary- it would have to be part of a 3 way deal.
