US and the World Cup draw

Friday the draw for the 2006 World Cup was determined in Leipzig. The United States which earlier in the week was hopeful of receiving a #1 seed was thrown into this year's version of the group of death with Italy, the Czech Republic, and Ghana. This draw will test how far US Soccer has evolved since Bruce Arena took over the reigns of the national team in 1998. The US did make the Quaterfinals in 2002 but were fortunate to advance so far with a weak draw and some extreme good luck. Stay tuned to this site for World Cup updates.

The US has no chance whatsoever to advance very far. Not only are they in a group of death but will play Brazil in the 2nd round if they are fortunate enough to advance through group play.
