Source: Marlins talking to Torborg and Girardi

Could Jeff Torborg be back in the Marlins dugout? Torborg, whose 2002 and early 2003 teams underachieved is being "strongly considered" a source told Kartik's World this afternoon for a return to the bench to replace that all but certain to be fired Jack McKeon. McKeon replaced Torborg in May 2003 and led the Marlins to a World Series title that fall.

The Marlins it has been reported in several news outlets have asked the Yankees for permission to speak to Bench Coach Joe Girardi a longtime former Major League Catcher who has a close relationship with Marlins owner Jeffery Loria. Our source indicates the Yankees have granted the Marlins permission to speak to Girardi.
